When shopping for home computer furniture, one must always consider that the relative space available inside a home is far less than that in a working office. Consider the space available in even the smallest office or cubicle. An 8 foot by 8 foot cubicle can easily accommodate a 4 foot by 6 foot office desk.
And, because computer furniture is built with an attached superstructure, that same small amount of space made available within the cubicle still allows for a reasonable amount of movement. Yet when we attempt to place the same desk in a corner of an existing room of our home we quickly discover that it is hard to hide an elephant anywhere. For this reason there exists specially designed home computer furniture. These are usually created with a lesser depth and a superstructure specifically built to accommodate the amenities one uses when working from home such as reference books and personal computer printers.
