Updating aging office file storage furniture

Is your office still filled with obsolete filing cabinets? There probably is not much in the way of office furniture that is as sturdy as a painted steel construction filing cabinet. Businesses tend to use these for decades before deciding to replace them. Unfortunately, even these dependable office furniture pieces can wear out. At some point all of our filing cabinet drawers no longer slide easily and may not support the weight of a full drawer when completely extended. This leaves the buyer with several options. The first is to simply replace your 2, 3 or 4 drawer filing cabinet with an identical twin.

This is simple enough to do as all of the original styles are still being manufactured including those with sturdy four tumbler locks and insulated double walled construction. In fact, many metal filing cabinets are strong enough to serve as ersatz safes. Features to look for in filing cabinets are quality nylon guides and roller bearings. Cheaper grades of filing cabinets are often built using only slides and rails.
Prior to the invention of the filing cabinet in the late 1800s records were stored in row upon row of small cubicles built next to walls. This hardly allowed for security or a large volume of storage. Furthermore, what was one do when more storage was needed, build another wall?
